Resistor

Value to Color Code

This solver takes a resistor value and returns its color code. The entered value is checked against standard values in five tolerance bands and the color code of the entered value as well as as the closest standard value is given. This can be handy if you know a resistor in on a board and you are trying to find it or have an unsorted stash of resistors and you need to search for a specific value.

The solver returns three or four colors which correspond to the resistors value (the first group of colors in the color code). If you are interested in the tolerance band color as well, use the following table.

The colors used to indicate tolerance in a three and four band resistor color codes.
