Sine Wave Oscillator

    Entering a value for the frequency (f), will find R and C. You can optionally enter a value for R or C along with f to find the missing value. Entering values for both R and C will find f. A default value of 5% is assumed for the capacitor’s tolerance. If you wish to use another value, enter it as a percentage (10% = 10).


    The oscillator shown produces two outputs that are 90° out or phase with each other. The output distortion is relatively low (typically on the order of 1%). The oscillators output voltage swing is limited by the op-amps specified output voltage swing. The maximum frequency of oscillation is dependent on the frequency response of the op-amp used. The following equation is used to calculate the component value.
